1. The Service

Scribao ("the Service") is operated by Julian Witkowski ("we", "us"). The Service helps you practice Chinese handwriting and reading via OCR, AI Explain, and a saved-text library. By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

2. Account & Acceptable Use

You must keep your credentials confidential and be responsible for activity under your account. You must not:

3. AI features

AI Explain and OCR outputs may be inaccurate and are provided for learning and general information only. They are not professional advice. You are responsible for verifying outputs and for the content of your prompts and uploaded texts. We may filter, refuse, or remove content and suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Intellectual Property

We retain ownership of the Service, including software, UI, branding, and documentation. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service within your subscription. You retain ownership of texts and notes you upload; you grant us a limited license to host and process them solely to provide the Service.

5. Payments, Subscriptions & Refunds

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, taxes, cancellations and refund mechanics are governed by the Paddle Checkout Buyer Terms. See our Refund Policy.

6. Service Level

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. We disclaim all implied warranties to the fullest extent permitted by law.

7. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated/serious policy violations. On termination you may request export of your data within 30 days, after which it may be deleted.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the prior 12 months. We exclude liability for indirect, consequential or special damages. Nothing limits liability for fraud or where prohibited by law.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Julian Witkowski resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
